CC Maxi's Match the Sims 4: A Personal Take on Realistic Sim Creation

When it comes to custom content (CC) for The Sims 4, some players find themselves drawn to alpha CC, while others prefer to stick with Maxis-match creations. As someone who has experimented with both options, I'm here to share my personal experience and thoughts on the matter.

For me, alpha CC often appears too 'uncanny valley' - it's as if the Sims become eerily lifelike, yet still lacking in a certain je ne sais quoi. This phenomenon is not unique to The Sims 4; I recall disliking the realistic Sim appearances in The Sims 3, which struck me as both realistic and unconvincing at the same time.

My affinity for alpha CC may stem from my maximalist tendencies. As someone who believes that 'more is more and less is a bore,' I find joy in combining various details to create elaborate Sim appearances. From hairs and accessories to body hair, skins, eyes, acne, scars, moles, face and body freckles, piercings, clothes, sliders, genitalia, and breasts (yes, that's the correct term!), I love experimenting with different combinations to craft Sims that resemble real people.

One of my go-to resources for realistic Sim creation is Daerilia's baby hairs. Her creations are stunning, both in-game and in Create-a-Sim (CAS). Ebonix CC also deserves a shoutout for their exquisite African hair textures, which are both beautiful and detailed.

In addition to these resources, I've also explored the work of Aviera and Colores Urbanos, discovering some gorgeous dresses that I've incorporated into my 99% Maxis-match game. While I acknowledge that using alpha CC can be a skill, I must admit that I find it difficult to resist the allure of these creations.

Ultimately, my take on CC Maxi's match is this: while both options have their place in the Sims community, my personal preference lies with combining different details to create elaborate Sim appearances. Whether you're a fan of alpha CC or Maxis-match creations, the most important thing is that you find joy in creating your own unique Sims experiences.
